We know that the Infinity War storyline is the one that will keep all of the MCU's heroes busy until 2019, when the second part of Avengers: Infinity War will finally be released. However, who is to say that Marvel shouldn't start building another overarching story sooner than that?
After all, after Thanos will be defeated, the heroes will need a new all-powerful being (or group of villains) to keep them in shape. Well, these are some storylines that we would very much like to see adapted for the MCU. Check it out!
Secret Wars
This should be an easy one, with hints of The Beyonder being dropped as soon as the MCU's phase III begins. We have one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe watching as the Avengers are carrying their battle against Thanos and various other villains.
This could be a possibility, of gradually having him kidnap the heroes and the villains alike and sending them onto a planet, say Battleworld, in order to dispute their differences. In the end, after each of the heroes has proved themselves, why not have The Beyonder himself face all the heroes in the same setting of Battleworld?
Secret Invasion
Now here is a storyline that could be adapted for the MCU starting right from next year - what if Iron Man isn't Iron Man himself, but just a clone or, say, a shape-shifting alien? What if, over the course of, say, an entire MCU Phase, all the heroes are replaced in the same way by some aliens who possess this ability?
Of course, this might be a bit tricky, since the Skrulls are now owned by 20th Century Fox. But would you have believed a couple of years ago that Spider-Man will join the MCU? So let the Secret Invasion begin already!
So these are just two of the storylines that we would like to see adapted for the big screens - naturally, for more than just one single movie. These storylines could easily replace the Infinity Gauntlet one and, by all means, they are quite exciting.
But what else could come next, besides these two? Well, we have some even more interesting ideas.
Original Sin
Nick Fury as a sort-off bad guy? Then count us in - the murder of Uatu the Watcher could have as many reasons as you would want to, and some of them have already happened. In any way, we have already seen (in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) that mystery suits the MCU very well. So what if a huge arc begins in the next movies, slowly introducing the Watcher, just to have him killed by an (unknown) assailant?
Thor could be the one to alert the heroes, Nick Fury's reasons could be the same, and we would have one of the best storylines brought to the MCU.
Hulk for the MCU
Common, you had to expect that - so far, we have seen too little of the Hulk in the MCU, even if what we saw was pretty impressive. It is a known fact now that, at the end of Age of Ultron, his location is unknown, having flown into orbit.
This could be the perfect setting for him to meet the Guardians of the Galaxy. He could still play a part in the war against Thanos, but he could as well be sent away as soon as the Infinity War is finished, being deemed too dangerous for Earth.
Obviously, some more storylines could be adapted as this one develops - but, after all is said and done, he will still make his way back home, where War World Hulk could ensue. Don't tell us that this doesn't sound exciting, because we wouldn't believe you - the MCU will be shattered, with new alliances being made, new villains becoming uncovered, new heroes being born and so on.
