Spider-Man – 5 Directors Wanted by Marvel

Spider-Man

Spider-Man is finally taking shape at Marvel, with the search for the main lead being narrowed down to two actors. But this isn't all, since Deadline has come up with a list with the 5 main contestants wanted by the studio to help the first Spider-Man movie for Marvel.

Quite surprisingly, Drew Goddard isn't among these directors, even if he was already rumored to have signed and even if he has already worked for the studio in bringing the Daredevil series to the small screen - to a great success, we might add. So here they are, the directors wanted by the studio!

Jonathan Levine

While Jonathan Levine struck it big with the zombie comedy Warm Bodies, his first critical acclaims came with the comedy 50/50, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen. Spider-Man isn't the first Marvel project to which Levine was presumably attached, since he was also rumored, last year, to helm Doctor Strange.

Ted Melfi

St. Vincent

A newcomer, Ted Melfi turned heads last year with the Bill Murray vehicle Saint Vincent. And while this was his first project, he actually managed to get one hell of a performance from young Jaeden Lieberher, opposite Bill Murray. We all know that Marvel wants to see Spider-Man as young as he comes and still in high-school.

Jason Moore

Jason Moore has directed the comedy Pitch Perfect, which was a great success, even if it was the director's first project for the big screens. Kevin Feige said that Marvel's version of the web-crawler will capitalize the superhero's humor - keeping that in mind, Jason Moore is, thus, a perfect choice.

John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein

Yet another duo that has specialized in comedies - their last project is Vacation, which will be released this summer. Furthermore, John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein have also worked as writers for projects such as Horrible Bosses, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. So will they helm Spider-Man? This wouldn't be the first time Marvel has chosen two directors with comedy background for its movies.

Jared Hess for Spider-Man

Napoleon Dynamite

Jared Hess struck it big with Napoleon Dynamite, following with failed projects such as Nacho Libre and Gentlemen Broncos. However, his other movies look pretty good, with Don Verdean already released and Masterminds set to be released this August.

As you can see, there are quite a few comedy directors wanted for Marvel's Spider-Man. Who would you want to helm the world's favorite superhero in his first Marvel movie?
