Wolverine, the alcoholic

There are quite a few scenes in the trailer in which we see Logan’s hand trembling. In connection with the shot in which we see him drinking at a funeral (most likely a flashback), we can assume that alcohol is the only way he can make the pain go away. But can I also believe that he must deal with a sense of guilt?

There are two possibilities here. One of them is the survivor’s guilt – with everyone close to him dead, Wolverine must be blaming himself because he was the only one to survive. Which might explain what we heard in the teaser released before the trailer’s arrival (the whole God made it last too long quote).

Another possibility is for Wolverine to actually be the one who brought about the destruction of the mutants. Just like in the Old Man Logan storyline, Wolverine might have been tricked into killing his friends. I have no idea how that could work out – although an explanation could have been offered via the introduction of another character. Want to know more?
