Deadpool – for adults only
If it wasn’t clear until now, the second trailer (the Red Band one, of course) showcased again that this isn’t a flick to see with the entire family. While director Tim Miller says that he doesn’t understand why so much gore is used in some movies, he uses plenty of it as well (like that time when the villains share a bullet, or when Pool plays soccer with a henchman’s head).
Furthermore, there is a lot of cursing and the breaking of the fourth wall occurs in the most interesting (if we can say so) moments – like the second crotch shot, in the taxi.
There are quite a few unanswered questions, which will probably find an answer when the movie arrives – the biggest one concerning, of course, the boss of Ajax. If it will be indeed revealed in this first outing, we can expect some more inappropriate rants. If not…
For the moment, we can say that this Deadpool looks perfect, even when not compared to the X-Men Origins one. There are, of course, a couple of things missing (such as Wade being a schizophrenic), but they couldn’t be all inserted in this first solo outing – as the director said.
All in all, this movie deserves the buzz built around it. It won’t be such a huge hit, since it is R-rated, but it will still get its budget back and then some. Deadpool arrives on the 12th of February 2016 – and it will certainly prove that R-rated and low-budget superhero movies can make a good buck at the box office.
