While the Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the best (if not the best) superhero trilogies ever, there are still some things that we missed when seeing this iteration of Batman. But now we may get a second chance, in the current modern comic book movies.
Here are a couple of things which could be kept in mind when (if) Ben Affleck will direct The Batman in 2018.
Batman - the greatest detective
Batman is usually called the greatest detective of all times. But was he depicted in this way in the Dark Knight trilogy? Not necessarily - Chris Nolan made him an awesome fighter and a very intelligent person. But a detective? Not so much.
So Ben Affleck should make the character chase some leads, analyze some evidence, solve some murders - as fun as it is watching him beating criminals, if he isn't a detective then something is missing.
The next Batman movie should have a mystery to be solved in it!
The Court of Owls
And the Court of Owls storyline might just bring that kind of suspense. In a way, the Owls and their assassins might just be the red line which connects the installments of another trilogy. The first Batman film will mean just the beginning of the storyline, with the Dark Knight discovering that there is a shadow presence in Gotham, a secret society that pulls the strings of everything happening in the city.
In a way, it can be the League of Shadows of a new Batman trilogy, with one major difference. If the Caped Crusader already knew and had connections with the League, the Court of Owls will be something new to him, making him put his detective brain to work.
Bring Oracle
Nolan's Dark Knight had Lucius Fox. This new Batman should have Oracle, because this will showcase the danger the Joker poses (Oracle being a paralyzed Barbara Gordon). She is no superhero - but she is the perfect assistant for a detective, a hacker and information broker who could put Batman on the right track.
The Red Hood
We already know that Robin is dead. And while this Robin isn't Jason Todd and is Dick Grayson, it bears little importance. We have the Court of Owls, who are already a threat and who can create their own assassins. Couldn't their experiment create the Red Hood from the animated corpse of the dead Robin?
We believe it could. And maybe this Grayson would go rogue and start killing outside of the Court of Owls' orders, making his way towards the leaders of the underworld.
This could work pretty well with the right writers. And this will once again prove that Batman is indeed a detective.
Sure enough, we won't get Nightwing if this happens. But having Batman fight against the Red Hood and against the Talons would be an awesome sight! And this on the background of him searching for the puppeteers!
