The hatred towards society makes Magneto a real threat to humanity. Like most of the supervillains, Magneto is also influenced by his twisted past. He survived the Holocaust and lost his wife in a fire. These happenings revealed his superpowers and at the same time his urge to destroy society.

He usually fights against the X-Men but he also fought against the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. His purpose of destroying the human race is what makes him one of the most dangerous villains, and he has the skills to do so.

He drifted from supervillain to anti-hero and even to superhero, but at the core he is a mutant willing to protect his specie and put it above any race at any cost.

His primary skill is the ability to control magnetic fields, generating a series of special effects. This allowed him to move asteroids, levitate a 30,000 ton nuclear submarine and lift the Golden Gate Bridge.

He is strongly resistant to telepathy and he is able to channel his power to make his body strong and durable beyond human condition.

He fought the X-Men, Thor, Jean Grey and he used his ability to project force-fields as a way of protection against attacks. He is also a genius of science, technology and engineering.

His abilities don't end here, as he is also able to sense what others feel and sense, he is a premium strategist and trained for hand to hand combat.

This supervillain is known as a “Devourer of worlds” with powers that are above any Marvel’s Gods. Galactus destroys planets to stay alive, as they are his source of nourishing. He first appeared in the Fantastic Four comic books, moving on in Daredevil, featuring in Infinity War and being the central character in Annihilation.

He possesses the Power Cosmic, a cosmic energy that replaces the aura (soul) of beings. Galactus has given a portion of the Power Cosmic to a number of beings that became his heralds.

He can control a holder in many ways, but he can also use this energy for a many effects that make him dangerous: resurrection, rebuilding dead worlds, manipulation of souls, memory and emotions, creation of life and force fields.

Galactus possesses a lot of abilities that can become deadly if he uses them at their greatest.

8. Nekron

A terrifying supervillain

The embodiment of Death, Nekron takes his power from those who have passed away. His state alone is terrifying enough. He created the black power rings to reanimate the dead in a new evil form. He is also responsible for transforming Superman, Wonder Woman or Green Arrow into Black Lanterns.

He is the most powerful dark force in the DC Universe and his limitations are unknown. He has no soul and that makes him immune in front of the Spectre, he kills Guardians with a touch and Life Entity is a force that he is able to fight against.

He is very resistant and he can manipulate reality; he sent Anti-Monitor back into the anti-matter universe, didn't he?

This darkest and extremely powerful force will always shake the universe when he's attacking.

7. Apocalypse

Apocalypse is an immortal mutant
Apocalypse is an immortal mutant

This immortal mutant is one of the main antagonists in the X-Men comic books, and will be in the center of the next X-Men installment. Born with a mutant X-gene, he turned with blue lips and gray skin, this particularity being the reason his people abandoned him. Baal, a member of the Sandstormers rescues Apocalypse and teaches him about the advanced alien technology.

His power emerges from the mix of this alien advanced technology with his superhuman abilities. He has total control on the molecules of his body therefore he can change his shape and size as desired. There are not many injuries that can be fatal to Apocalypse and his limbs can serve as weapons any time.

Apocalypse has a great ability of adapting his body to diseases and hostile environments; he can project and absorb energy and can deal with whatever technologies he has at hand. All these make him immortal and tremendously dangerous.

6. Thanos

Thanos is a mutant member of Titanian Eternals, a race of superhumans among which Thanos is one of the most powerful. The skills that make him so dangerous is a mix of abilities inherited from the Titanian Eternals, with his colossal superhuman power, stamina and great endurance to injuries. He usually comes out alive of every battle or busting attack.

Otherwise, he can absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, he possesses telekinesis, telepathy abilities and he can manipulate matter. He is also a science genius which served him to time travel, space flight and move through alternate universes.

He murdered his own family for Mistress Death and another billion innocents across the space. He is capable of almost anything, and mostly driven by his love for Mistress Death.  We haven't seen him beaten up many times, and he has enough power to fight Thor and the Thing at the same time.

He fights against the strongest superheroes (Silver Surfer, Thor, Hulk, Drax) and he is usually defeated by having his plans destroyed, but not in an actual fight.

5. Deadpool

Wicked and twisted, Deadpool is an unpredictable supervillain

Also known as "Merc with a Mouth" due to his talkative personality, Deadpool is one strange and twisted anti-hero. He has great abilities that recommend him as a redoubtable supervillain but his story is as twisted as his personality.

He has no idea about his background because of his mental condition and there are a lot of speculations around him. It is uncertain whether he is Wade Wilson or he just stolen this identity, and at some point Loki claimed to be his father.

Otherwise he has the ability to recover from injuries very fast, and his psychosis plays a major role in the unpredictability of his actions, making Deadpool a redoubtable opponent. In Uncanny X-Force he killed Apocalypse which reveals how powerful he can really be.

He was trained to be an assassin and a mercenary and he is very skilled in martial arts, he is a professional swordsman and sharpshooter.

You don't know what to expect from this character and nor his opponents. He has the advantage of being aware that he is a fictional character and uses this to inform himself about the happenings from earlier comics' issues.

4. Darkseid

He is one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe and he is a supervillain. Darkseid's goal is to conquer the Universe. Meanwhile he is at the helm of his own planet, Apokolips. His character is inspired by a tyrant (Adolf Hitler) and the planet he rules is similar to the Nazi Germany. He indoctrinated the inhabitants of his planet and uses them as his underdogs.

He possesses the Omega Beams power, a force that emerges from his eyes or hands that can erase living objects and organisms from existence. Only Superman and Doomsday are invulnerable to the power of the beams, also called the "Omega Effect".

He can trap organisms in alternate realities, he can control the size of his body and he is immortal. Wherever he is, he brings his evil forces with him. Darkseid is obviously redoubtable and dangerous.

3. Brainiac

Knowledge is power and Brainiac has it
Knowledge is power and Brainiac has it

This extraterrestrial android uses knowledge and intellect as his main weapon. He has a "12th-level intellect” that allows him to do things others cannot. In the first instance he was presented as being able to shrink cities and use them to renew his planet. The city of Kandor (capital city of Superman's home planet) was a victim of his.

He has advanced understanding of various technologies that enable him to calculate abilities, possess others, absorb information from other beings, transfer his consciousness, create and manipulate computer systems, replicate multiple versions of himself, and exert powers to traverse or control space and time.

Brainiac is one of the most powerful supervillains Superman has faced and his presence is always a threat.

2. The Beyonder

He is atypical among supervillains
He is atypical among supervillains

He was first presented as the most powerful being in the Marvel Universe, the be-all and end-all of the “Beyond Realm” who took human form to understand human race better. The original Secret Wars described him with powers million times greater than the multiverse combined. With a wave of his hands he sent a gathering of demons back to hell.

The Beyonder was originally created as a great force but he was re-tooled. This diminished his power, but his original form shouldn’t overlooked: he fought off Galactus, he created a universe out of his own being and destroyed a galaxy on a lark.

If he is going to come back in his initial form, The Beyonder might cause a lot of destruction.

1. Doomsday

Doomsday, maybe the most powerful of them all
Doomsday, maybe the most powerful of the supervillains

He is a deadly monster and he has few feelings, mostly of hatred and destruction. On his way to erase other worlds he found Earth and his first opponent, Superman.

While other villains rely on technology and intellect, Doomsday has the advantage of a physical form that can really challenge Superman himself.

He defeated the Justice League in minutes with one hand tied, and ultimately he murdered Superman. His powers and abilities are various, making Doomsday a real threat to everyone else. He is invulnerable to Darkseid's full Omega Effect and he is able to heal from anything. Conventional damage and ordinary injuries do not reach him.

He has an undefined superhuman resistance, so whatever his opponents try, they don't know if it will affect this creature. His only purpose is to defeat anything and anyone in his way and his superpowers sustain his goal.
