While the latest Ben Affleck movie, The Accountant, hasn't received too much love from the critics, his chemistry with co-star Anna-Kendrick cannot be denied (say the same critics). But what does this have to do with superheroes, and with Batman in particular?
Well, Ben Affleck is set to direct, produce, and star in the first solo Batman flick of the DCEU, but the actor’s latest interview teases a new possibility. Of course, it may be just a simple comedic sketch, but Anna Kendrick may become the first female Robin on the big screen.
As said, it may be just a comedic After Hours sketch, especially if we are to consider how the interview ends (with Ben Affleck saying that he wanted to star in Pitch Perfect, only to have the role stolen by Kendrick). But given the fact that J.K. Simmons, who stars in The Accountant as well, is the new James Gordon"¦
Check out the interview below, with Anna Kendrick appearing in a Robin costume:
If the actress will be cast (as we believe at this moment), she could become Stephanie Brown, or even Carrie Kelley (Jena Malone was rumored to have grabbed this role for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). Another possibility would be for her to become Barbara Gordon, James Gordon's daughter.
Barbara Gordon was previously the Batgirl. However, after the Joker shot her, she became the Oracle, an information broker for quite a few heroes from the DC Comics.
What do you think? Is there any possibility that Kendrick will join Affleck in the Batman movie?
To be noted, it was also announced today that Warner Bros. has scheduled two event movies for 2019 and 2020 - of course, it isn't said anywhere that they will be superhero flicks. But, given the fact that Affleck recently said that he isn't anywhere close to shooting The Batman, we may wait a bit longer than 2018 to see him in solo action in the DCEU.
