Back in April, the Russo Brothers confirmed that Chris Pratt's Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, will appear in Avengers: Infinity War. Later in August, Vin Diesel revealed that not only Pratt's character, but the entire Guardians of the Galaxy team, will return for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe mega-event. While we knew they were going to be in the movie, we didn't have any idea about how significant their roles would be or how much screen time they would get.
Now, Schmoes Know has dropped a new rumor about the Guardians' appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. While they’re not sure about rest of the team, they claim that Star-Lord will be the first among the band of cosmic anti-heroes to show up in the May 4, 2018 release. According to the website, work on the script has still not been completed, but at the moment, Chris Pratt's character looks to be "a major player" with "a sizable role" in the third Avengers installment.
Star-Lord’s having a vital contribution in Avengers: Infinity War isn't much of a surprise, to be honest. While the actor has gone on become a Hollywood A-lister in recent years, his character is the only one among the Guardians of the Galaxy to have connection to Earth. His mother was a human, and he was born and even raised in Missouri, until the period in his childhood when the Ravagers abducted him and flew away to space.
Since he travels across the galaxy, it wouldn't be surprising to see him learning about Thanos' plan to invade Earth beforehand and then traveling to the planet to alert the Avengers. Or maybe he’ll come across some significant information that can help the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in defeating the Mad Titan and his army. At this point, we can't be sure what exactly is going to happen.
