Warner Bros. surprised us with their announcement that they were changing the title of the DC Extended Universe movie The Flash to Flashpoint. The new title is a strong hint that the movie will adapt Geoff Johns’ iconic comic book crossover story arc from 2011.
In a new piece that primarily deals with Wonder Woman’s impressive performance at the box office, Forbes' Mark Hughes suggested that Gal Gadot could return as Diana Prince in Flashpoint, which looks to be more a DC superhero ensemble than simply a solo movie for Ezra Miller's Barry Allen. Hughes added that the studio is looking at a 2020 release for the project, which still lacks a director. Here's an excerpt from the article:
Gadot is also expected to reprise her role as Wonder Woman in the upcoming production of Flashpoint, which will be Flash’s solo movie, but is also more of another superhero team-up featuring several additional DC superheroes. Flashpoint is currently scheduled to release in 2020.
The use of the word "expected" might be a bit confusing, since it gives the impression that the the statement is just speculation. However, the reporter clarified on Twitter that it wasn't just an assumption, although he couldn't provide a great deal of information:
Not merely speculation, I can’t say more than that right now though.

The next tweet came just before he published the report, and it looks to be more of a scoop than a guess:
Get ready #DCEU fans – I’ve got an article a/b to drop, it’s not just box office info, there’s some juicy tidbits a/b upcoming stuff!

While it would be wise to take this with a grain of salt, it would make sense to have Wonder Woman – and other superheroes – show up in Flashpoint. After all, the portion of the comic book story arc that deals with the Amazons and the Atlanteans is a major highlight, similar to the one dealing with a Thomas Wayne version of Batman and a Martha Wayne version of The Joker.
