Yellowjacket takes the stage in the second trailer for Ant-Man, which was released just yesterday.
You could get a clear look at Ant-Man's antagonist. He does seem fierce when in action, despite Kevin Feige's previous description of Yellowjacket.
Feige says Yellowjacket "is not a villain in the vein of Thanos or Loki, who are villains that know it. [Cross] is a guy who is not that dissimilar from Michael Douglas' character, Hank Pym. A brilliant scientist, who is not ethically pure".
Well, let's see.
Peyton Reed talks Yellowjacket
Entertainment Weekly was graced with this superb first official still of Yellowjacket. You can clearly see the disparity.
How can this be a fair fight, given Ant-Man is so much smaller than his enemy? Add to that Peyton Reed's comment.
"Hank Pym's Ant-Man suit doesn't have a single weapon," says Peyton Reed, "whereas Yellowjacket is armed with plasma cannons".
But that doesn't mean Yellowjacket has the higher ground. "˜Cause here what Reed adds about Ant-Man: "Ant-Man is very fast when he's small ["¦] Also, when he shrinks, he increases his density, so he's got increased strength".
Add to that the fact Scott Lang has the ability to control ants, which is vital for the success of his mission of stealing Darren Cross' armor.
I think that, despite the "pacifist" concept of Ant-Man's costume, Scott Lang is not helpless when face to face with Yellowjacket.
His ant-whispering ability, his increase in strength and speed do make up for the lack of weaponry.
Is this a fair fight? What do you think guys? The trailer doesn't depict a powerless Scott Lang. His agility and the rest of his set of skills do seem to offset Yellowjacket's upper hand.
