The MCU – 10 Movies for Phase IV

Thanos - MCU Big Baddie

The MCU is one big, giant franchise, with 12 movies already released (yes, we are counting Ant-Man here too, even if YOU didn't see it) and 10 others scheduled until 2019. With Inhumans (12th of July 2019), the first part of this franchise will be over - the first three phases, which will culminate with the Infinity War.

But what will happen afterwards? What superheroes will take the central stage, besides the ones already announced? What movies will we see, beside the necessary sequels? Well, where are a few ideas of movies for MCU's Phase IV!

The Exiles

The Exiles
The Exiles

When Phase III will be over, the MCU will be completely devastated - after the Infinity War, there will certainly be chaos, with struggles to correct the mayhem resulted after the war. Furthermore, we can even assume that new, albeit smaller, threats will appear, with villains fighting for the top spot in the void created by the Mad Titan's defeat.

And this is the perfect setting for the Exiles to appear. We can assume that the Infinity Gauntlet War will bring with it the discovery of alternate realities. One of these realities could be the one from where the Exiles come from.

They are an ever-changing team of superheroes, whose task is to correct the hiccups from alternate worlds. And the best thing about this team is that, in this way, alternate realities such as the Zombie Universe could be revealed to the average moviegoer.

There is another possibility too, concerning the discovery of alternate dimensions"¦ Check out on the next page what other alternate reality can be featured into the MCU!

X-Men

X-Men

We know - there is almost no reason for Fox to accept a deal with Marvel, since the X-Men movies are actually doing pretty well, with both the critics and the fans. However, bringing the X-Men into the MCU would mean a winning deal for both the studios: Fox will make even more money, while Marvel may just have an alternative for the Avengers, once the moviegoers will get tired of the team.

As said, the X-Men arrival could be set by the same Infinity War.

The deal between Marvel and Sony is the precedent which makes the X-Men arrival into the MCU. And speaking of the X-Men - the Fantastic Four may as well be there too!

On the next page, a different kind of Avengers!

West Coast Avengers

West Coast Avengers

The end of Age of Ultron and the coming of Civil War mean that the Avengers team will be split in two. But what can the end of the Civil War bring? Obviously, the seed for a different type of team, a team derived from the first roster.

The West Coast Avengers won't just give New York a break from all the destruction. It will also bring some new heroes into the fold (such as Mockingbird and Wonder Man), while also setting the stage for some other teams to be brought on the silver screen later on (such as the Illuminati).

After the Mad Titan's defeat, this new team can prove itself against a less powerful villain, just like in the comics. From then on, the sky will be the limit - the MCU's Phase IV might as well culminate with such a film.

A new solo film, on the next page!

Mockingbird

Mockingbird

Speaking of the West Coast Avengers, MCU's Phase IV might as well introduce another superhero without actual superpowers. Mockingbird can be that superhero.

This won't just mean a new superhero. It will also mean that a jump from the small screens on the silver ones can be made, with the character also appearing in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And this alone would bring a myriad of other movie possibilities, besides the most obvious one (Daredevil). So which other small screen hero could appear in MCU's Phase IV?

Punisher

Punisher
Punisher

The Russo Brothers said that Punisher made his presence felt during the MCU's Phase II. In the Winter Soldier events, it was the Punisher's truck that saved Nick Fury and it was the same truck that killed agent Sitwell.

Sure enough, the character itself wasn't seen - only his actions were felt. However, this sounds like a premise for us. There is no way in which he can be squeezed in Phase III. But the MCU's Phase IV could certainly bring him once again on the big screens.

To be noted, there are little to no chances of this happening, since the previous two versions (no, we are not taking the Dolph Lundgren version into account) bombed and weren't actually praised by the critics. Furthermore, a different rating is needed for such a character - and Disney will always be Disney.

On the next page, a team from the past!

The Howling Commandos

Yeah, we know - it would be very hard to pull this through, especially with the original team. However, who says that it needs to be so? Or, who says that such a movie needs to take place in the modern times?

For what it's worth, Captain America: The First Avenger did a pretty good job with presenting the times of the WWII. Maybe the team could make a solo outing, on its own, with a villain that somehow connects the events of the first Captain America film with the future events of MCU's Phase IV.

A villain such as Sin, maybe"¦

On the next page, a replacement for the Hulk!

She-Hulk

She-Hulk
She-Hulk

Bruce Banner won't be with us for good. But he may cameo in MCU's Phase IV as the cousin of Jennifer Walters. After receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin, she becomes a more well-mannered version of the Hulk.

In this sense, he retains his abilities, but she also retains her intelligence as well as the control over her other side.

The MCU has been criticised for the lack of superheroines, with only Black Widow appearing until now. She-Hulk has been an Avenger, a mercenary, as well as a Defender. So it makes sense to have her in the MCU's Phase IV.

On the next page, a team of young superheroes!

The Runaways

The Runaways
The Runaways

The Runaways could be like the Guardians of the Galaxy of MCU's Phase IV. Pretty much unknown for the general moviegoers, they have gathered quite a following since their first appearance in the comics, in 2003.

For the younger audiences, this team of young superheroes rebelling against their supervillain parents is perfect for adapting. Furthermore, because the girls from the team outnumber the boys, a Runaways project would diminish the criticisms concerning the MCU's sexism.

Of course, we cannot hope for them to be introduced during the Civil War - in the comics, the Runaways oppose the Superhero Registration Act. However, until MCU's Phase IV arrives, there is still time for them.

Plus, they can join the West Coast Avengers in the final film of Phase IV.

The only sequel on this list is on the next page!

Guardians of the Galaxy III

Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy

Thanos will most likely clash with the Guardians of the Galaxy in Vol. II - and we don't know whether or not all the guardians will live after this encounter. Furthermore, the Infinity War will also feature the intergalactic team - and yet again we don't know if the members of the teams will survive.

But we liked so much the first movie that we are looking forward for a trilogy to be completed. So a MCU's Phase IV should definitely have a Guardians of the Galaxy film!

On the next last page, a Spider-Man villain takes the stage!

Venom

Venom
Venom

Sure enough, Kevin Feige did say that the studio will focus on new villains for the Spider-Man franchise, instead of the ones already seen on the big screens. However, this shouldn't be a Spider-Man film at all!

Sony already had plans for a Venom film, plans which were scrapped after the less than satisfying performance of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. And now Marvel is in charge - a movie about an ambivalent character, both superhero and supervillain, would be something that Marvel hasn't given us until now.

Sure enough, you can mention Loki or even Winter Soldier as being antiheroes. But are they really?
