Just a month ago, Gotham introduced the younger version of iconic Batman Comics supervillain, The Joker. Even though the origin of the Clown Prince of Crime remains a mystery in the history of DC Comics, the Batman prequel series on Fox took the bold step in defining it with the character named Jerome in the episode The Blind Fortune Teller played by Cameron Monaghan.
Many had criticized Gotham's attempt in introducing The Joker so early but hardly anyone could criticize the single scene demonstration by the actor who is his early twenties. Monaghan's work has been appreciated and many want to know when he would return in Gotham.
In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, the young actor talked on when he might be seen again in the series. He said, "When I was on set, we discussed the possibly of me coming back in the second or third season. Nothing is set in stone yet. I think the producers have a firm plan for what they want to do, but I was not privy to it while I was filming. I would love to come back and do some more."
Let's check out the actor's performance in Gotham as Jerome, the young Joker, before moving ahead towards next segment!

No Audition For The Joker Role!
In the interview, Monaghan claimed that he didn't need an audition for the role of Jerome in Gotham. He was contacted by the show and offered a role "˜that could potentially be The Joker'. The actor stated that he had worked previously with Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller on The Mentalist which might have brought him the role without any audition. He points towards another probability that his performance in Shameless might have impressed them.
Plenty Of Research & Practice!
Even though, The Joker role in Gotham didn't require Cameron Monaghan any audition, the actor claimed that he had to do a lot of research and rehearsal for the scene of less-than-four-minutes in length. The actor exclaimed that he doesn't know why his neighbors "˜didn't call the cops' because he had spend weeks "˜constantly laughing and staring' at himself in the mirror! He kept on repeating the monologue even when he was driving his car to get his food or some other reasons.
Monaghan also revealed that after getting the role, he "˜read pretty much every comic' including The Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke and even the older ones like The Laughing Fish. The actor stated that he is fascinated to see how every actor who plays The Joker comes up with something different.
