Marvel fans are surely aware that Thor’s mighty hammer Mjolnir can only be handled by someone worthy of its power. For example, Captain America fought Thanos with it in Avengers: Endgame. But, rather surprisingly, Marvel Comics recently revealed that a couple of heroes from the DC universe, in the form of Superman and Wonder Woman, are also worthy of wielding its power.
As reported by Screen Rant, he reveal came in the pages of Thor: The Worthy #1. One of the stories, titled Rule for Reflection, deals with the Mirror of Finvarra. Without giving away too much about how this all unfolds in the book. At one point, shards of the mirror show us reflections of others who are worthy from other universe. Beta Ray Bill and Jane Foster are amongst them. But the most surprising inclusions are Wonder Woman and Superman. Take a look.
Despite the fact that we’re crossing streams with the universes here, it makes sense that Superman and Wonder Woman would be able to control the might of Mjolnir. They’re both pure of heart and have similar ideals, when compared to heroes like Thor and Captain America. It’s just a little surprising that Marvel Comics decided to include them in the book. Still, it’s a fun little Easter egg and makes for a cool little Marvel/DC crossover.
Some readers may be surprised to learn that this isn’t the first time either character has picked up the hammer. In DC Versus Marvel, Wonder Woman previously picked up the hammer, only to put it down in favor of a fair fight. Meanwhile, Superman once wielded the mighty weapon in JLA/Avengers. It’s worth noting in that same event, Superman also picked up Captain America’s shield.
