A new batch of Shazam! set photos offers the best look at Zachary Levi's titular superhero that we’ve seen.
During the first few weeks of production, nothing major leaked from the movie’s Toronto set. That ended during the last week of February, when a behind-the-scenes snap of Levi in his superhero costume seemed to pop up out of nowhere. Since then, photos and videos from the set have continued to steadily roll in.
After seeing the previous photos, which showed Levi from behind or at a distance, fans expressed mixed reactions in regard to the suit. Some fans thought it was faithful to the comics, but others described it as substandard.
The more recent photos provided a much closer, detailed look at Shazam that refuted the assertions from fans that the costume looked like mediocre cosplay.
We should also note that CGI effects are expected to come into play for details such as the superhero’s chest emblem and bracelets. As long as Warner Bros. avoids hiring the people who worked with Superman's Justice League moustache, the CGI work is likely to enhance the Shazam costume. The following set photos feature Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana and Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman (Billy Batson’s best friend).
We all have superheroes inside us. It just takes a bit of magic to bring them out. In Billy Batson's case, by shouting out one word – SHAZAM! – this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Superhero Shazam, courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart – inside a ripped, godlike body – Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: He has fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his Social Studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he'll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.
