The sequel to Zombieland is coming to the big screen, 10 years after the original film was released.
The Zombieland movies put a comedic spin on a zombie
apocalypse, while still having plenty of horror and action.
Director Ruben Fleischer and writers Rhett Reese and Paul
Wernick have returned to work on the second film.
The trailer for Zombieland: Double Tap confirms that all four
members of the main cast will be in the film, much to the delight of Zombieland
fans who have been hoping for this for a decade.
Woody Harrelson is returning to his role as Tallahassee. Jesse
Eisenberg is returning to his role as Columbus. Emma Stone will once again play
Wichita. And Abigail Breslin is returning as Little Rock, who has grown up
since the original movie when the actress was just 13 years old.
Rosario Dawson has been added to the cast (her character name is rumored to be Nevada), as well as Zoey Deutch as Madison (a very ditzy character who is being added to the mix), and Avan Jogia as Berkeley (who plays a potential love interest for Little Rock).
Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch play roles that parallel
Tallahassee and Columbus, which seems like it will make for some
doppleganger-like fun in the film.
The trailer also points out the success of the original cast, highlighting some of the major awards the actors have received since filming the first movie.
Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin have
all been nominated for Academy Awards, and Emma Stone won an Academy Award for
Best Actress in 2017 for her performance in La La Land.
In the trailer, we see a lot of slow motion action zombie killing, plenty of funny quips, and the original crew spending some time in the White House.
It seems that the sequel will be much like the original in terms of tone, but the actual plot of the film isn't hinted at too much in the trailer.
Fans have already waited a decade, so now they just have to
wait a bit longer until the film is released on October 18th, 2019.
