Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Right on the spot, Disney released the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 90 seconds all the fans (and non-fans for that matter) have waited since what it seems like forever. Check out the teaser trailer below and then check out our thoughts about it.

Is that Tatooine?

The first question which needs to be asked is this: is that Tatooine or some other desert planet? While we are more inclined to believe that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will go back to the roots of it all, one thing is certain: this is the home-planet of Daisy Ridley's character, whose name remains undisclosed.

Furthermore, we see this female character riding a vehicle, which appears to be a lot like the concept arts leaked a couple of months ago.

The awakening

What seems to be an anonymous Stormtrooper is actually the other major character of Star Wars: The Force Awakens – John Boyega's character, with yet another undisclosed name. What we can believe from the quick cuts of the teaser is that this character has been in a dogfight with the Millennium Falcon and that now he is left stranded on the desert planet.

Given the fact that the teaser seems to be centered on these two character and that the voiceover announces the awakening when John Boyega's character first pups-up, we are inclined to believe that he will be the one that learns the ways of the force.

Is this the villain or not?

While we are inclined to believe that the light-saber wielding character from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser is the main villain of the movie, there is nothing certain at this point.

The rumor is that he is indeed the main baddie - just look at the way he walks, so dangerously, so creepy and so threatening.

But then again he can also be a wounded Jedi - why not Luke?

The light-saber

As far as we are concerned, the light-saber seems to be the weakest point of the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser. While it does look good (like all light-sabers do, for that matter), it should also be practical. Until now, we haven't been able to find a use for the two additional, well, lights.

What else?

Where is Luke? Where is Leia? Where is Han? Maybe we will see more this weekend, when 3 shorter teasers were announced to be released.

That’s Andy Serkis doing the voiceover!
