Scarlett Johansson was reportedly offered, back in October 2014, to star in the remake of the Japanese anime Ghost in the Shell. She's had a busy schedule in 2014, and since 2010, she's also been around in the Marvel Universe. 2010 saw her appearance in Iron Man 2, as Natasha Romanoff, whereas in 2012 she brought the Black Widow on screen in The Avengers.
Scarlett Johansson also pulled off a rad Black Widow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014. No need to doubt she'll keep the bar high in Avengers: Age of Ultron, set to arrive in theaters no later than May 1st, 2015.
Another action-packed sci-fi Scarlett Johansson scored in 2014 was the acclaimed Lucy. Is the diva ready to embark on a new project of such proportions? See the answer below.
Scarlett Johansson signs up for Ghost in the Shell
The actress did take her time to ponder on the offer made in October last year, and, according to Variety, which quotes Deadline Hollywood, she's now on board to star in DreamWorks' version of the worldwide popular Japanese pic. The adaptation is helmed by Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.
Plus, the crew starts to come along, with Avi Arad and Steven Paul teaming up to produce the American adaptation of the anime. Masamune Shirow, writer of the original Japanese manga franchise, is a precious addition to the team.
Scarlett Johansson is currently working on Hail, Caesar!, a comedy we'll see in theaters no sooner than February 5th, 2016. She also lends her voice to Kaa, one of the central characters of a Jungle Book remake to be released in October 9th, 2015.
Clearly, Scarlett Johansson is in the Hollywood bandwagon of sci-fi franchises and comic book movies. I couldn't be happier to see her in Ghost in the Shell. Do you share my enthusiasm? Jump in and let us know your thoughts!
