The other unnamed villain of Star Wars: Episode VIII
Back in the summer, The Wrap reported that Benicio Del Toro received a proposal to play the main villain in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Disney, the production company of the movie hasn’t made any official statements.
Variety, the other source that revealed this information, also informed that the producers have met Joaquin Phoenix for this role too. This was happening two months ago.
Latest news confirmed Benicio Del Toro to be a part of the cast but after what ET reported, we are no longer sure if he is going to be the main villain. Del Toro about his character (via ET):
“I don’t know if he’s a villain. People are saying that, but it’s like they read a different script than I read… It’s nice to keep people in the dark; a little bit of mystery is good. If they want to believe it’s the villain, then good.â€
He might be seeing all from a different angle or his character is simply not that big of a villain. We are not that surprised that Disney chose him as he worked with them for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released May 26th, 2017.
