The Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Cinematic Universe aren't the only shared comic book universes that exist today, Fox also has its own X-Men shared universe comprising of the Marvel character they own the rights for. Thanks to the magical boost-up that X-Men: Days of Future Past provided, the shared universe now has seven different flicks scheduled for release until summer of 2018.
And that's not all! We've been hearing for a while now that Fox is planning for an X-Men spinoff movie. The good news is - Deadline reports that Fox has green-lit the movie! And, we also have the title for the X-Men spinoff - it's titled The New Mutants! And, not only that, the report suggests that we also have director and writer for the spinoff confirmed!
Director Of The New Mutants
Josh Boone is the man who has signed a deal to helm the upcoming X-Men spinoff movie. Can't recognize who he is? He is the director of last year's impressive Fox ventures The Fault in Our Stars. The 36-year-old director and screenwriter has also helmed Jennifer Connelly starrer 2012 flick Stuck in Love. Simon Kinberg, who will produce the series with Lauren Shuler Donner, says:
"We're so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe, and so excited to do it with Josh, who is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters."
Writers For The X-Men Spinoff
Josh Boone will not only direct the spinoff, but will also co-write the script with Knate Gwaltney. Knate is best known for his works on Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, Jackass 3D and Jackass 3.5. He's also written the script of Halle Berry starrer action thriller movie Kidnap, which releases in this October.
However, it is still unknown when The New Mutants premieres. But we expect to get more details soon. Meanwhile, share your thoughts and views on the upcoming X-Men spinoff movie via comments.
