While the X-Men franchise may seem like the most underwhelming superhero franchise of the moment, it still has quite a few fans. Thanks to movies like X2, First Class, and Days of Future Past, the series has managed to keep afloat since 2000 - and this also makes it the oldest modern superhero franchise. So this is something to take into account.
Of course, movies like X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Last Stand are below average. Nonetheless, for what it’s worth, the latest installment still managed to bring in $543 million worldwide, despite some very unimpressive reviews.
So take this latest news in any way that you want it: Fox has scheduled yet another untitled Marvel flick for 2018. We already know that 2018 will bring the Deadpool sequel in January. So what movies will be released on the 2nd of March and on the 29th of June 2018?
Currently, Fox is developing another X-Men movie (with Bryan Singer being just a producer this time), a New Mutants project, a Fantastic Four sequel (allegedly), and the delayed Gambit spin-off. In addition to that, a Stan Lee biopic is also in the works. So which ones will be released in 2018?
My guess is that nobody expects to see a Fant4stic reboot so soon, so we can exclude this one. Could it be Gambit? We haven't heard anything from star Channing Tatum. So the best guesses will be that the X-Men sequel (most likely trying to adapt the Dark Phoenix storyline yet again) and the New Mutants will be released then.
So which ones do you want to see the most, if any? Do you think that Fox will move forward with another project besides the ones mentioned above?
We are actually excited, but just for the Deadpool sequel. But who knows? Maybe the next X-Men film will have a more interesting script and someone better behind the camera.
