During a recent interview with Collider, producer and writer Simon Kinberg talked about the X-Men: Apocalypse credits scene. Obviously, he didn't go into the specifics of the scene - however, he did say that it will have an impact on quite a few upcoming X-Men movies.
So, if you want to be spoiled, read on!
Basically, Simon Kinberg said that the credits scene is related to the final Wolverine movie, as well as to other X-Men movies to come. Specifically, the producer named the Gambit movie:
It's a nod toward potentially a lot of different movies. I mean, certainly, the Wolverine movie is related to what happens at the end of it, but there's also another character that's introduced, at least in name, in the tag, and he could show up in any (of a) host of different X-Men films. Maybe a Gambit movie, maybe another X-Men movie.
Of course, the rumor is that the credits scene will be in the vein of the X-Men: Days of Future Past credits scene, in the sense that it will introduce a new villainous character. And since the producer mentioned the Gambit movie, the rumor is that the villainous character is none other than Mister Sinister. Early reports said that he will be the hidden villain of the Gambit solo flick, while this addition would also explain an unaddressed question from Days of Future Past.
Thus, at the end of Days of Future Past, Wolverine is retrieved from the Potomac by Stryker. Except that it isn't Stryker, but a shapeshifter in disguise - we all assume that it was Mystique. But, apparently, it isn't, since this issue is not addressed in X-Men: Apocalypse (or so we’ve heard). So what if the shape shifter is Mister Sinister, instead?
As far as the Gambit rumors are concerned, Sinister would have played an important part in the movie, being the overseer of the Weapon X program. Things do fall into place, right? So what do you think?
Will Mister Sinister show up in the X-Men: Apocalypse credits scene?
And, if so, what do you think about Bryan Cranston's tease of the character?
