Sony has announced through a press release that the filming of sci-fi horror Underworld 5 has begun, and the shooting will take place in Czech's capital, Prague and its surroundings. They have also revealed that the filming will last ten weeks.
Along with this announcement, Screen Gems and Lakeshore listed the cast of the movie made up of familiar faces and less familiar ones.
It seems that Kate Beckinsale returns as vampire Selene, role that she's been playing since 2003; Theo James as her friend, David and Game of Thrones star Charles Dance will reprise its role as the Vampire elder Thomas, David's father. Both of them are more popular now that they were when they last appeared in Underworld, due to their acting in movies like Divergent (James) or, in the case of Dance, the famous HBO's TV Series, Game of Thrones.
Lara Pulver (Sherlock) will play the role of a new Lyncan while Tobias Menzies (Outlander, Rome) will portray a ferocious Vampire. James Faulkner, another actor from Game of Thrones was announced to be part of the cast, alongside Bradley James (A&E's upcoming Damien series), Daisy Head (Fallen), Peter Andersson (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and newcomer Clementine Nicholson.
Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter, Priest) is going to provide the screenplay for the movie directed by Anna Foerster who has a remarkable portfolio including successful blockbusters like Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and White House Down. Foerster is also going to be at the helms of Source Code sequel, so she seems promising for Underworld 5.
The story of Underworld 5 also called Underworld: Next Generation will gravitate around the rivalry of new and younger generations of vampires and Lycans. Other details were not revealed by now.
The Underworld sequel is expected to hit the theaters in late 2016.
