Though X-Men: Apocalypse is one of the three big blockbusters of this year, we haven't heard too much of it in the past couple of weeks. After the trailer was released, there was nothing too conclusive coming from the official channels.

Until now, that is. Speaking about the main baddie of X-Men: Apocalypse, Bryan Singer said that he was created having in mind the God of the Old Testament: super powerful, who will have his way or will destroy everything in his path. For this reason, Apocalypse will be indeed the first mutant to come into existence.

However, according to the director, his powers aren't necessarily from this Earth - sure enough, he is a powerful mutant, but he has also augmented his abilities using certain kinds of technology: “The way I describe him the most, the best, is he to me is the God of the Old Testament and all that comes with that.  If there isn't the order and the worship then I'll open up the Earth and swallow you whole, and that was the God of the Old Testament. I started from there and when Oscar and I met we began discussing — since he isn't really God, he's the first mutant perhaps, but he's not God necessarily — he's imbued with certain unique powers. Some of them may or may not be from this Earth, we don't know.” (via Comic Book Movie)

Well, this sounds more than interesting, since in the comics that technology came from the Celestials. Will it be so in X-Men: Apocalypse as well? We have no idea, simply because the Celestials have also appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy - who owns these characters isn't very clear just yet.

So, in a way, Bryan Singer actually teases the expansion of the X-Men Cinematic Universe into the, well, universe. And this gets even more interesting, especially considering what Bryan Singer said next, regarding Jean Grey: “We definitely explore how powerful [Jean Grey] is in this movie, and that can be something that is empowering and something that is dangerous.” (via Comic Book Movie)

What does that mean exactly? Well, it means that we can say goodbye to Last Stand and welcome a proper Dark Phoenix. Doesn't it? The director continued with further clarifications, saying that he is possibly interested in adapting the storyline, especially since there are a couple of hints in X-Men: Apocalypse about Jean Grey's tremendous powers.

Do we need, though, another Dark Phoenix Saga adaptation? You tell us, especially since this time it can be done right.

For now, we cannot wait for more info (and clips and trailers) for X-Men: Apocalypse.
