There’s been all sorts of speculation about Sony's Spider-Man character-based shared universe. Of course, this includes the shared universe’s first film, Venom. With no evidence that Spider-Man will even make an appearance, it’s understandable that everyone’s attention is on Venom.
Even without Spider-Man, there’s a long line of characters for Sony to choose from. Studio execs have even said that characters like Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio could have a shot at solo movies. Still, we’re not sure how this could happen in the absence of Peter Parker.
Based on Spider-Man characters Silver Sable and Black Cat, Silver and Black will be Sony’s second movie in this shared universe. Reports from various sources have said Silver and Black will mark the beginning of a franchise about an all-female superhero team. According to other reports, Silver Sable will be tasked with catching Black Cat (who will have a secondary role) to retrieve a MacGuffin that’s in her possession. Other rumors have pointed to The Chameleon as one of the film’s main antagonists.
Most recently, That Hashtag Show reported that Silver Sable will bring some friends along on her quest to capture Black Cat. The website also said that there are plans to bring in Sable's comic book team, The Wild Pack.
Featuring The Wild Pack would provide an opportunity to tell Silver Sable's backstory. But it remains to be seen whether it’s going to happen or not, since the movie’s Sable is a government employee, and the comic books’ Wild Pack is a team of mercenaries.
For the moment, the only thing we’re sure of is that Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct Silver and Black.
