The Fantastic Four Cast And Release Date Revealed By Marvel

Ladies and gentlemen, we finally know who will be making up the cast of The Fantastic Four. More than three years after Marvel Studios first announced the movie, the core stars who will make up Marvel’s first family have been revealed. What’s more, the film has secured a new prime summer 2025 release date.

The film will now hit theaters on July 25 next summer. It will hit theaters just two weeks after DC’s Superman: Legacy. Marvel announced the casting in honor of Valentine’s Day. The above logo kicked things off before some further artwork, which revealed the cast. The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will lead the way as Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic). Mission: Impossible star Vanessa Kirby will play Susan Storm (The Invisible Woman), The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach will play Ben Grimm (The Thing) and Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn will round out the ensemble as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch).

The Valentine’s Day artwork, which you can check out below, offered our first look at the cast in character. More than that, it also revealed that the film will seemingly be set in the 1960s. That will set it apart from other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How will Marvel explain the absence of these characters from the present timeline? Are they going to be from elsewhere in the multiverse? That all remains to be seen.

Matt Shakman (WandaVision, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) is set to direct the film. Originally, Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) was set to helm the reboot, but he dropped out to make the Star Wars series Skeleton Crew. While plot details remain under wraps, Shakman spoke with Collider last year, explaining that it will be unlike anything we’ve seen in the MCU before.

“It’s different in so many ways. I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can’t. But I think it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you’ve seen before.”

Shakman had to be vague at the time. However, it very much seems like he was hinting at the ‘60s setting. The other big question right now is who will be the film’s big villain. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Doctor Doom make his MCU debut. If that is the case, that will be a coveted role that will likely see another A-list star join the cast. We should be learning more as filming is expected to begin soon.

The Fantastic Four is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
