Into its second week and Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already broken more than a dozen of box office records. We'll discuss the newest records the J.J. Abrams flick has made but let's, at first, talk about the latest news on its title. The movie wasn't originally titled Star Wars: The Force Awakens. What was the title then?
According to Pablo Hidalgo, the title was Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire! The Creative Executive of Lucasfilm Story Group shared this during a recent Twitter exchange!
Doesn't the title look familiar? It should because it is the singular form of a 1996 novel – Shadows of the Empire! It was written by Steve Perry and published by Bantam Books. And this novel was actually a part of a multimedia project of the same name. It also included a comic book mini-series and a video game. While Dark Horse Comics published the comics, LucasArts developed the video game. Check out the tweets below!
@justinlasalata for longest time, the TFA title was the same as an old novel. Thankfully it changed. 🙂 With so many books, it’s inevitable

@VegaArts_ @justinlasalata it was Shadow (singular) of the Empire for a while.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Breaks Fastest $1 Billion Record!
What you have just read in the title is right! After breaking almost every box office record on its way, the epic space opera movie has earned $1 billion globally the smallest duration of time! According to Deadline, with $540 plus million grossed from each of domestic and international box office, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has crossed the milestone in just 12 DAYS!
Earlier this year, Jurassic World set a new record for the fastest $1 billion gross from worldwide box office. The Chris Pratt starrer reached the landmark in 13 days.
It Breaks Best Second Weekend Record Too!
Bad news for Jurassic World again! Star Wars: The Force Awakens has taken over another one of their box office records VERY CONVINCINGLY. The Colin Trevorrow flick managed to set a new record for the best second weekend in the domestic box office. But, the latest installment of Star Wars Universe says GOOD-BYE to the record by bagging $46.5 million more than Jurassic World.
The Wrap confirms that the movie has grossed a massive $153.3 million on its second weekend from the domestic box office.
