One year, one month, and eleven days…That’s how long we’ll have to wait to finally see David Harbour's Hellboy reboot in theaters.
The Hellboy reboot has been in production in the UK and Bulgaria since September, but the studio had been keeping the movie’s release date under wraps. The good news is that Lionsgate officially announced that the R-rated superhero movie will hit theaters on January 11, 2019.
If the date sounds familiar, it’s because it was mentioned in a report that was in circulation a couple of months ago. At that time, the studio denied its authenticity and said that they hadn't settled on a date yet.
At the moment, Hellboy shares its release date with James Gray's sci-fi epic Ad Astra, starring Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones, and the comedy What Men Want, starring Taraji P. Henson. M. Night Shyamalan's Glass and the animated buddy comedy Spies in Disguise, starring Will Smith and Tom Holland, will roll into theaters the following week.
Harbour’s castmates include Milla Jovovich as big baddie Nimue, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Ian McShane as Professor Trevor Broom, Daniel Dae Kim as Major Ben Daimio, Penelope Mitchell as elder witch Ganeida, Sophie Okonedo as Lady Hatton, Alistair Petrie as Lord Adam Glaren, and Brian Gleeson as the wizard Merlin.
Neil Marshall is calling the shots based on a script penned by Mike Mignola, Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Aron Coleite.
Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.
