The last couple of days have brought one huge rumor concerning Jason Statham and Marvel. According to various sources, the Transporter star was set to take on the role of one of Daredevil's enemies, presumably Bullseye.
And while there were few chances for this to actually happen, we could have seen it work. Sure, Jason Statham is known for his big action films, so switching to a TV series was hard to imagine. However, given the fact that Daredevil felt like a 10 hour-long movie, we wouldn’t have counted him out just yet.
Jason Statham denies the rumors
During the promotional tour for his next movie Spy, Jason Statham was asked whether or not he is interested in playing any character in a superhero movies. And while some other actors would express their desire in a particular character, the Furious 7 star took a different approach.
Well"¦ A very different one, that is. Check out in the clip below!
There's hardly anything that could be interpreted in here. Very bluntly, Jason Statham said that he is not interested in such big budget movies, simply because they are not fun to do: CGI, stuntmen and so on are taking all the appeal out of an action star's job.
But is it over yet?
Not necessarily. According to other sources than Latino Review, who broke the so called news first, the actor was indeed in negotiations with Marvel. However, the fact that the news was spilled on the internet led to the negotiations falling apart.
How come? It can be presumed at this moment that Jason Statham has asked for a bigger pay after seeing all the buzz surrounding this news. With the fans being so excited, he and his agent must have seen an opportunity to ask for more.
Of course, it didn't really work out - as the interview lets us believe.
One more thing should be noted - Jason Statham actually named Marvel when talking about superhero movies. Does this mean that he is actually against playing in superhero movies? Or is there something written between the lines?
