Back in 2012, Universal released what seemed to be a much-awaited re-imagination of the classic Snow White tale. Starring Kirsten Stewart (the Twilight saga) as Snow White, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Charlize Theron (the Queen), Snow White and the Huntsman was expected to be a certain hit. It wasn't - besides being trashed by the critics, it managed to bring just about $400 million worldwide on a huge budget of $170 million.
Nonetheless, the studio moved forward with the sequel, which was being planned well before the first installment was released: titled The Huntsman Winter’s War, this second flick added Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain, in the roles of the Ice Queen (the Queen's sister) and of what seems to be the main love interest of the hero, while also removing the Twilight star - which seemed to add a bit more class, as well as a bit more acting chops.
Today has seen the release of the first trailer for The Huntsman Winter's War - and some movie goers are already hurrying to say that it looks like a movie where Elsa (Frozen) turned evil. We can't say that, though - but a movie with Emily Blunt is always welcomed! So check out the trailer below!
Besides this first trailer, posters have also been revealed, featuring the main stars of the movie - Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt, Chris Hemsworth and Jessica Chastain.
As far as the synopsis of the movie is concerned, there isn't one, the studio keeping secret the plot of the film. But, after seeing the trailer, we can't expect anything too special from it. Just like its predecessor, The Huntsman Winter's War will also be a flashy flick, reasonably entertaining (after all, it is produced by those who gave the world Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland and Oz the Great and the Powerful), but basically hollow.
Which is a pity if we consider the names attached to it. The movie will be released in 2016, on the 22nd of April.
