Hellboy Synopsis and Shooting Locations Revealed!

The Hellboy reboot is scheduled for release in late 2018, so shooting is expected to begin soon. As that time nears, we’re seeing new details emerging online. The most recent reveal was a synopsis of the movie.

Omega Underground (cited by My Entertainment World) reported that the movie will follow the movie’s titular character as he travels to England to defeat Nimue, The Blood Queen. Hellboy must be careful, since this battle could bring about the end of the world. The website added that shooting will begin at the end of this month, and will take place in both the United Kingdom and Bulgaria.

Check out the synopsis below:

The film is about Hellboy going to England, where he must defeat Nimue, Merlin's consort and the Blood Queen. But their battle will bring about the end of the world, a fate he desperately tries to turn away.

It’s interesting that the reboot is going to address the fact that Hellboy’s actions might bring about the end of the world, as this was the theme of Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy movies. And this screenshot from My Entertainment World refers to the reboot as Hellboy 3 (albeit in parentheses). This is really more than weird, since there’s supposedly no connection between this reboot and del Toro’s movies.

Hellboy 3, apparently

We should mention that the reboot’s initial title was Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, and that was later shortened to Hellboy. Although reboot creator Mike Mignola had originally said that all three movies would be connected, that went out the window after Guillermo del Toro said that he wanted nothing to do with the reboot.
