Reasons For The Harry Potter Play Split!

Following J.K. Rowling’s announcement on Twitter, the writer and the director of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Jack Thorne and John Tiffany respectively – went on to offer their explanations on the decision of splitting the play into two parts on Pottermore. According to the BAFTA-winning writer, he gets ‘to spend more time with the characters’ due to the two-part decision. Jack added:

“I just hope we do it justice. I’m so constantly aware of respecting the previous seven stories… I hope people love this play like they loved the books. Everything we do is with that in mind.”

The director of the play John Tiffany claimed that the play ‘shares a scale and ambition with all the Harry Potter stories’ and to do JUSTICE they are splitting it into two parts.

Well, we definitely know that this split also means making DOUBLE MONEY with the project! Will anyone who’s going to watch the first part of the play, sit back without watching the second one? That too when the name HARRY POTTER is in it?

The Tony Award winning director also explained why Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is something he is excited about. Here’s what he said:

“Usually in theatre you’re adapting existing material or creating an entirely new play. With the Cursed Child we have been given the unique opportunity to explore some of the most cherished books and beloved characters ever written, yet work with J.K. Rowling to tell a story from that world that no one yet knows – it’s exhilarating.”
