According to the article that accompanies the official first look, the character is a "˜brand new' one named Callum Lynch.

The character of Callum Lynch was "˜specifically' created for the movie. They aren't retelling any of the existing Assassin's Creed games. A new character and a new story "“ and that's what Ubisoft's Head of Assassin's Creed Content Aymar Azaïzia has confirmed more recently via the official Twitter page of the game franchise. He admitted that the movie will be based on a new story, but he also claims that it's "˜a real Assassin's Creed story'.
