Ever since October 2011, we've been hearing about the development of Assassin's Creed live-action movie. Michael Fassbender - the actor who plays Magneto in the X-Men Universe - was announced the lead cast for the movie in July, 2012. This is August, 2015 (almost September, 2015 actually) and did we get to see the movie? No! Did the movie wrap up its filming? No! Did it kick-off its filming? A big NO again!

A New Character For Assassin's Creed Movie!
If you are an Assassin's Creed gamer, you must have already started wondering as to which character from the game franchise is Michael Fassbender playing in the Justin Kurzel flick. Well, you don't need to scratch your heads any further - Fassbender's character isn't any of those you've known till date. According to the article that accompanies the official first look, the character is a "˜brand new' one named Callum Lynch.
The character of Callum Lynch was "˜specifically' created for the movie. They aren't retelling any of the existing Assassin's Creed games. A new character and a new story - and that's what Ubisoft's Head of Assassin's Creed Content Aymar Azaïzia has confirmed more recently via the official Twitter page of the game franchise. He admitted that the movie will be based on a new story, but he also claims that it's "˜a real Assassin's Creed story'. And he also suggests that you are going to get "˜lots of elements' from the franchise in the movie. Here's the tweet for you!

According to the article accompanying the first look, Michael Fassbender's Callum Lynch goes on to find out that he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society. He discovers this through "˜unlocked genetic memories' which let him revive the adventures of his ancestor named Aguilar. The adventures took place back in 15th century in Spain. The article also suggests that Fassbender's character gains "˜incredible knowledge and skills', after which he goes on to a mission to make mincemeat of the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day. Talia al Ghul of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises - Marion Cotillard - has a role to play in the Assassin's Creed movie. We don't have any details on her character yet. Before Midnight star Ariane Labed and 12 Years a Slave star Michael Kenneth Williams have also been confirmed for the movie, but we know nothing about their roles too!
The live-action Assassin's Creed flick is set to hit the theaters on December 21, 2016. Filming of the movie is about to begin this Monday and set locations include Malta, London and Spain.
