Doctor Strange is due to arrive in theaters November 4th, 2016. Benedict Cumberbatch has already been confirmed for the lead role. Will the Sherlock star pull off the Ancient One's protégé? Let's not forget the character is also rumored to join the Avengers team in a not so far future.
His standalone appearance has been planned for a while, but it's only recently that the project was initiated. Scott Derrickson has been handed the reins of the production, and Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer and Jon Spaihts are in charge with the script. They'll be assisted by Steve Ditko and by the honorable Stan Lee.
Scott Derrickson’s choice of Doctor Strange artwork
Fan artwork has started to pile up already, working out Cumberbatch into the Doctor Strange lore. Here are some pictures I find interesting and hope you'll enjoy too:
I particularly like the spectral quality of these artworks. Well, I guess anyone could have seen it coming: Doctor Strange is, at this of his development, a sorcerer in the making. So that explains the auras and the eerie eyes.
Now, if you wonder what Scott Derrickson liked most, here it is:
The director expressed his appreciation via Twitter with a message that leaves nothing to be interpreted: "Strange but not a stranger", says Scott Derrickson in his tweet. Here is his original tweet.
As you can see, this piece of artwork did have some impact. But I guess it's safe to assume Scott Derrickson must have had something to do with its skyrocketing popularity. Because, in the end, he is the director. And his likings are consequential to whatever will happen to the movie.
Did you happen to stumble on some other interesting fan artworks? Is so, please share! Also, what do you make of Derrickson's preference? Leave your comments here!
