Yesterday the fans learned that one of the men responsible for the huge success of Deadpool left the sequel project. Unlike other comic book movies, Tim Miller's departure didn't come because of creative differences with Fox. Instead, it was because he and star Ryan Reynolds didn't see eye to eye when it came to some of the details for Deadpool 2.
According to Comic Book Movie, citing The Wrap, Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds didn't agree on who should be cast as Cable.
The Wrap says that Ryan Reynolds managed to negotiate a very sweet deal with Fox. Thus, besides a huge paycheck, the actor also gained creative control, which included casting approval:
We're told the director was all set to make the sequel, which still doesn't even have a release date. That's allegedly in part because when Reynolds' agents renegotiated his deal, along with a massive amount of money, the star got casting approval and other creative controls. That whole process took more time than Miller (and fans) would have liked, and it shined a spotlight on differences in vision between the two key players.
According to the already mentioned sources, Kyle Chandler's name has been floating around for a couple of months for the role of Cable. Chandler is best known for the series Early Edition, as well as for secondary roles in movies like King Kong, Super 8, and The Wolf of Wall Street.
To sum it up, Ryan Reynolds didn't agree with Tim Miller on who should portray Cable. And this was reason enough for the director to leave the project. It remains to be seen if the rumors about Kyle Chandler being Miller's choice are true or not.
