Bumblebee has been a main character in the Transformers franchise since the first movie dropped in 2007, and is one of Optimus Prime’s most trusted friends and guardian of the movies’ human stars. As such, Bee has evolved right along with the franchise.
The latest Transformers movie didn’t do well at the box office, and as part of Paramount’s ensuing effort to reinvigorate the franchise, the next installment – directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) and scheduled for a December 21, 2018 release – will feature Bumblebee!
John Cena, who has a starring role in the film, just announced that the first trailer is about to drop. He also reminded us of how much we all loved the Transformers:
Hey, what’s up? This is John Cena from the new movie Bumblebee. We are taking it back to the beginning with Bee, and it’s set in a time period when I first fell in love with Transformers. The new trailer debuts tomorrow, and don’t miss Bumblebee in theaters this Christmas.
According to the official synopsis, Bumblebee is set in 1987. The Autobot is scarred, broken, and on the run. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), a teenager in search of her place in the world, finds him in a scrapyard where he’s taken refuge.
