Bryan Cranston Wants to Be Sinister

Bryan Cranston

Back when DC and Warner Bros were searching for an actor to portray Lex Luthor, everybody shouted at unison: Bryan Cranston is that actor! And then HEisenberg was cast, thus transforming the character completely - now Lex even has hair and he has been described as the imaginary evil Mark Zuckerberg. Which is fine for some of us.

But what about Bryan Cranston? What about his plans for the future? Will he ever get to appear in a comic book movie featuring superheroes?

Leaving the fans and what they want aside, the actor himself touched the subject most recently, while promoting his most recent flick, Trumbo (which is scheduled for world-wide release on the 6th of November and which has already gathered plenty of favorable reviews).

To be noted, if you didn't know, Bryan Cranston already portrays a superhero, in the animated series Supermansion - he is an aging superhero called Titanium Rex who tries to remain relevant, together with his fellow aging superheroes.

The actor also expressed his desire to portray a comic book character, quite a few times until now. What studio did he choose? Well, to many, this is obvious: he wants to play in a Marvel production. What character you ask? Check out on the next page!

The talented Bryan Cranston said that he loves playing villainous roles - who doesn't, since they are the ones most interesting? If he did say that he'd love to be a Marvel villain while promoting Trumbo, he named that villain at the New York Comic Con.

Everybody presumes that he wants to be in the MCU - it isn't so. He wants to be in an X-Men movie and his chance may come right after Apocalypse arrives. According to the actor, if he is to portray any super-character, that character would be Mr. Sinister.

Well - that was unexpected. From Lex Luthor (with whom he did resemble, at least in Breaking Bad), to Mr. Sinister, there is quite the length.

Why do we say that his chance may come after X-Men: Apocalypse? Well, as Bryan Singer said, Apocalypse is the grand finale of this X-Men franchise, so we can expect for the superheroes to suffer some major damage. What is interesting is that Apocalypse may as well tamper will all the timelines, thus creating possible futures all over the place.

The rumor is that Apocalypse is the one to trigger the events in the last Wolverine flick, which will be an Old Man Logan adaptation. But Bryan Cranston won't appear in that film - instead, it will be right after X-Men: Apocalypse!

Bryan Cranston in Gambit?

According to the same rumor, one of the side-villains of Gambit will be Mr. Sinister. Sinister and Gambit have had quite a few encounters until now, most notably in a sort-of Faustian storyline. Thus, the mutant was hired by Sinister in order to steal some Weapon X files which could be useful for his own research. In exchange, Sinister agreed to remove a part of Gambit's awesome power.

This is a role which would fit Bryan Cranston, since it isn't exactly the role of a villain - this Sinister would be a character with villainous intentions which won't be revealed until the very end or even until a sequel arrives.

Thus, maybe the actor knows something that we don't. Maybe he has already met with the studio execs - why would he tell us that he wants to play this rather unknown character, with whom he doesn't have any physical resemblance?

But what do you think? Is Bryan Cranston the perfect actor to portray this character?
