Arkham Knight is supposed to team up with Scarecrow in order to crush Batman in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight. Well, the plot envisages the coalition of a handful of celebrated antagonists. But while most of them have a longstanding career in the DC Universe, not much can be said about Arkham Knight himself.
Only speculations backed up by no official release. However, what is held to be Zafer Coban's accidental leak about Arkham Knight's identity surely casts a shed of light. The validity of his statement remains uncertain. But his words do give rise to yet another wave of rumors. With a twist of outrage, one might say. Or with enthusiasm.
Who could have seen that coming? Arkham Knight is Dick Grayson
Batman and Robin form one of the iconic couples of DC Universe. But while when under the guise of their superhero personas they do get along and save the day, Bruce Wayne and Richard Grayson aren't necessarily attuned to each other. Or, in any case, their bond is not so deeply detailed such as to help us pigeonhole it friendship. A Dick Grayson going bad when costumed is perfectly plausible. Though not exactly to the letter of the Batman lore.
Also, taking into account the development of the Batman: Arkham so far, an outcome of this kind isn't that much of an exaggeration. We can't blame Rocksteady for distorting the letter of the comics if indeed Arkham Knight is Dick Grayson. Or can we?
In all cases, Zafer Coban's slip did cause a rise in tension. His mention of Nightwing joining forces with Scarecrow while interviewed by 4playernetwork gives us something to cling on until the release date or until further official announcements. Batman: Arkham Knight is due for early July, 2015.
See for yourself the dialogue above and share your opinion. Are we reading too much into Coban's statement? Or do you concur? If so, do you think this surprising turn of identities does any good to Batman: Arkham series?
