Around the time Marvel announced its Spider-Man deal, Sony made its own announcement about plans to create a shared universe based on Valiant comics. Several movies were slated for release over the next couple of years.
However, things didn't go as smoothly as Sony hoped. None of the five movies Sony announced ever entered production, and we’ve heard virtually nothing about Bloodshot, Harbinger, or Harbinger Wars.
Sony reportedly hired Dave Wilson, a VFX artist who worked on Avengers: Age of Ultron and Deadpool, to direct Bloodshot. Also, Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer is said to be penning the script.
The Wrap reported that the studio has already put together a wishlist of actors who could eventually play Bloodshot. They’re all well-known actors, and no strangers to action or comic book-based movies. The publication noted that Oscar Isaac, James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicholas Hoult, and Mark Wahlberg were all on Sony’s list. Isaac, McAvoy, and Hoult have all appeared in 20th Century Fox's Mutant Shared Universe.
This is just a wishlist, so it doesn't mean that Sony has even approached anyone to potentially star in this new franchise. The Wrap also noted that neither the studio nor the actors have issued an official confirmation that this list even exists.
What do you think? Should any of these actors sign for the role?
It appears that we still have a couple of years to wait for Bloodshot to make his way to the big screen.
