Bloodshot will finally begin shooting! Sony has waited quite a while in order to adapt a first story set in the Valiant universe. First announced after the deal with Marvel over Spider-Man, Bloodshot has been delayed a couple of times until now.
After the plans changed, with Harbinger being announced as the first movie of the shared universe, the studio once again revealed that it makes more sense to start with the story of Angelo Mortalli.
Jared Leto was once rumoured to portray the main character. However, Vin Diesel was the one to actually sign for the role. Toby Kebbell was then cast as Axe, one of the antagonists from the comics, with Michael Sheen following afterwards.
Aiming for an early 2020 release date, Bloodshot should be starting filming in the next months. And now, thanks to actor Sam Heughan, we have found out when.
During an interview with Screen Rant while promoting The Spy Who Dumped Me (starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon), the actor said that he's ready to fly to South Africa, where the shooting will take place:
"I can tell you that it's based on the Valiant Comics, which are the Bloodshot series. It's within that world, my character – I can't give away too much, but I'm really excited. We're off to South Africa to start shooting next month. It's got a great cast and the director, Dave Wilson, is superb."
With the principal photography beginning next month, there is plenty for the studio to shoot, post-produce and reshoot the movie. Furthermore, we can expect for other announcements to be made, concerning both the cast and the plot of the film.
