After Sony and Marvel reached their deal over the rights to Spider-Man, Sony decided to build a new shared universe and announced the Valiant Universe in 2015.
Bloodshot has been in development at Sony since 2012, but has encountered numerous delays. According to Omega Underground, the movie will finally begin shooting on August 6, 2018. The outlet added that director Dave Wilson has already selected South Africa, Prague, and Budapest as locations, but only South Africa has been officially confirmed. Blade Runner 2049 and Spider-Man: Far From Home filmed in Prague and Budapest, so fans are speculating that Bloodshot will do the same.
For the moment, Sony’s keeping Bloodshot’s plot under wraps. We do know that Sony wants to base their shared universe on Valiant comics.
The studio’s plan is to follow Bloodshot with Harbinger and Harbinger Wars. But everything depends on how critics and audiences react to the first movie.
Sony confirmed that Vin Diesel will play Bloodshot. No stranger to comic book movies, Diesel will play a slain mobster who’s brought back to life and given superpowers. Other cast members include Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Eiza González, Sam Heughan, and Toby Kebbell.
Kebbel, largely known for his motion-capture roles and his portrayal of Doctor Doom in the infamous Fant4stic, will reportedly play a villain in Bloodshot. In addition, it’s been rumored that Jared Leto (The Joker, Morbius) might sign on to play another Bloodshot villain.
