X-Men: Apocalypse is next year's biggest superhero movie from 20th Century Fox and they have already started to tease us with exciting offerings. The hottest of the offerings was the bunch of stills officially launched by Fox providing us the first look at the various characters of the movie. Now, we have some more stuff from the X-Men Universe.
No, we don't have any new stills - it's a heap of words from X-Men stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Munn and Ian McKellen that you will find here. While one of them talks about the sexuality factor of her character's costume, another one talks about the possibility of her departure from the X-Men Universe and the last one simply terms Superman as A JOKE! And we also have some words from the producer of Apocalypse about his movie's Comic-Con footage leak issue! So, let's get started!
First in the thread is an interview of Jennifer Lawrence where she talked about the possibility of leaving X-Men Universe after Apocalypse. Hit 2 to check out the details!
Why Jennifer Lawrence Might Leave X-Men Universe?
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mystique cast Jennifer Lawrence spoke on whether or not next year's Bryan Singer venture is her last appearance in the universe of mutant. The actress clarified that she loves working with the director and in the X-Men movies. But she expressed her frustration of dealing with the blue body paint for her role.
Jennifer asserted that she didn't use to worry about the "˜fumes and toxins' when she first signed on for X-Men: First Class, but now she seems to have grown a concern about them. The actress stated, "Now I'm almost 25 and I'm like, "˜I can't even pronounce this and that's going in my nose? I'm breathing that?'"
However, Jennifer didn't confirm that she won't play Mystique again after Apocalypse - rather she went on to say that there is "˜hope' that she would play the mutant again! She adds, "I don't want to not be asked." So, it seems like Jennifer Lawrence is still in doubts about her future in X-Men Universe and about if she truly wants to live the franchise or not.
Hit 3 to learn about Olivia Munn's words on her Psylocke costume for X-Men: Apocalypse!
Olivia Munn Calls Psylocke Costume VERY SEXUAL!
The recently released first look at Psylocke clearly reveals that the costume is inspired by the character's costumes in the 1990s comics- the ones that used to be highly risqué. And the Psylocke cast Olivia Munn doesn't seem to disagree on that - she admits straight away but has an explanation to why it hardly matters! Here's what the actress said to Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview:
"Psylocke's outfit or uniform or suit or whatever you want to call it is very sexual. I've got like my thigh-highs and a halter, but the thing about that, and that was important, is that it doesn't matter what I'm wearing as long as we're all aware of who she is. She's very strong and she's very lethal and she's very powerful, and it doesn't really matter what she's wearing as long as you have that strength and that presence."
However, Olivia didn't hesitate to express her annoyance at wearing the skin-tight latex! She doesn't have too much of a trouble wearing the costume now, but she struggled dealing with it in the early days of the filming. Olivia stated:
"Now it fits like a glove, but it's kind of hard because there's been times where I'm pulling and it pops like a balloon, which did happen day one. Day one, I was like, "˜Uh, guys, uh, do we have a backup? Sorry I popped my crotch."
I think this is a wake-up call for Bryan Singer - DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THE COSTUMES COMFORTABLE FOR THE STARS! Not one, but two complaints about the costumes already!
Hit 4 to learn about Ian McKellen's controversial remarks on Superman!
Magneto Star Ian McKellen Calls Superman A JOKE!
Superman has been ranked as the most popular superhero of all time, but the man who has played the mutant master of magnetism, Magneto, for a decade and a half in X-Men Universe - Ian McKellen -doesn't seem to give a damn about it! While talking to UPROXX about his taking up the mutant role in an era where superhero movies weren't doing well, the veteran actor revealed that it was Bryan Singer who managed to convince him to play the role.
And what he further added might shake you up! Here's what he said:
"X-Men was about something. Superman isn't really about anything. It's a joke. The nerd changes his underpants and becomes a Superman. That's James Bond: "Shaken, not stirred," silly, stupid, British twit"¦ and then, Action Man! But X-Men is about the problems of being a mutant. And we've all felt we're mutants on occasion. So, that was the hook for me. And don't forget, I didn't have to sign to do anymore than one; I'm just doing a movie."
Well, well, well. Do the Superman and James Bond fans have an answer to this old guys's cynical remark? Apparently it seems impossible to me to convince him that Superman and James Bond are also about something!
Hit 5 to check out what the X-Men: Apocalypse producer has to say about Comic-Con footage leak!
X-Men: Apocalypse Producer Addresses Footage Leak!
While talking to IGN about the leak of X-Men: Apocalypse footage from San Diego Comic-Con International, the producer of the movie Hutch Parker - who was also the president of production for 20th Century Fox - denied any chances of the leak to be what the studio intended to happen.
He further claimed that leaking footage that early from the movie's release is "˜not such a good thing' for the studio and production team. He added, "The reason you don't see footage out that far is you run the risk of it getting stale."
The producer also explained the reason why footages are shown at Comic-Con. He said, "I think their (studio's) intention is to get the most important opinions and opinion-makers in this community engaged in the promise of what's coming." He further added:
"You hope that you excite a level of interest that [fans] will express and celebrate it. But it's a scary-ass deal, because they're not shy. If they don't like it, if they aren't feeling it, they're going to let you and everybody else know. [Showing footage] is something people do with trepidation, but with hope."
