Spider-Man is back to MCU, but he's not going to just sit around too long. Marvel has plans for the world's pet web slinger! Sources like Hollywood Reporter indicate his return movie will be none other than Captain America: Civil War.
The clock is ticking on Captain America - set to come to theaters May 6th, 2016 - which means finding an actor to cast as Spider-Man is a race against time. Which is all the more complicated, now that Marvel is planning for a younger Spider-Man to showcase in its future films, Civil War included.
With Andrew Garfield stepping out - it didn't make much sense for him to stay, given Marvel is in search of a younger Spider-Man - the question is: who will they reach out to?
Dylan O’Brien: shortlisted by Sony
The Maze Runner star Dylan O’Brien is, according to Variety, one of Sony's first choices. Let's see. He's athletic and he does have the boyish look to match Marvel's notion of a younger Spider-Man.
Yet, he's not alone in this race.
Logan Lerman - another contender for Spider-Man
Variety also indicates Logan Lerman. Fury star is, apparently, all geared up to pull off the young Spider-Man now everybody wonders about. Just like his competition, he has the credentials, he has the looks. Plus, his work on Fury - which is a Sony production - surely must have made an impression on the bigwigs of the studio.
But that's not all
And while the search for a teenage Spider-Man is about to start - none of the mentioned actors have been, reportedly, reached out to by the studios - let's remember the director's chair is also vacant. The goal is to find a replacer for Marc Webb before Spider-Man's first debut with Marvel, that is, Civil War.
Now, what are your thoughts on the allegedly shortlisted names for Spider-Man? Would you pick someone else to walk in the shoes previously worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield? Have your say below!
