Spider-Man Villains You Won’t See in the Sequels

Spider-Man’s rogues gallery contains some of the most well-known Marvel Comic Book Universe baddies. Sony has already used some of them, including the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) as the first film’s main antagonist and Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) in the second Sam Raimi flick.

However, too many antagonists showed up in the third Spider-Man flick, including the new Goblin (James Franco), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), and Venom (Topher Grace, of all actors).

Then came the reboot, which featured the Lizard (Rhys Evans). The second installment had Electro (Jamie Foxx), Green Goblin (this time portrayed by Dane DeHaan), and Rhino (Paul Giamatti in a brief cameo).

Co-producer Eric Carroll told Nerdist that the Osborn villains won’t appear in the MCU's Spider-Man franchise anytime soon, despite rumors saying that the MCU is heading toward a Dark Reign adaptation.

On the other hand, Tom Holland expressed his desire to go against Venom, only to have Carroll remind him that Venom wouldn't make the leap to the MCU anytime soon, especially since Sony’s own solo movie based on the supervillain/anti-hero is in development.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will feature the first big-screen appearance of The Vulture (Michael Keaton), as well as two versions of the Shocker. So who knows what the future holds in regard to villains?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Coming Soon)

Unfortunately, Venom won't be one of them. Fortunately, there are plenty of other villains for Marvel and Disney to pit against the web crawler.
