The audience was thrilled with the first trailer for the upcoming X-Men installment, but here’s something to sustain the excitement. A fan thought that an animated version of the movie would appeal to those Marvel fans who grew up with the X-Men comics and 1990’s Fox’s animated X-Men series. So YouTube user Phillysteak created a mashup of the new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer with footage from X-Men: The Animated Series.
The result is fabulous, as the animated trailer follows the same lines from the live action one, and most characters from X-Men: Apocalypse have their counterparts in this animated version. However, there are differences, of course. Apocalypse looks more robotic and Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcralwer are adults in the animation, while in the film they are teenagers.
X-Men: Apocalypse trailer vs. X-Men: The Animated Series trailer
You have probably seen the trailer for Apocalypse, but you can have a second look and compare it to its animated version. And if you didn’t have the chance to read the official synopsis, here you have it:
“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”
What do you think about this 1990’s cartoon style animated trailer for 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse?
