Earlier this month, we learned about Boyd Holbrook‘s casting in Wolverine 3. The Narcos star might be the lead villain in the movie, but he won't be the only one. We have a confirmation from The Hollywood Reporter that Richard E. Grant has been cast as a baddie in the March 3, 2017 release!
According to the report, the Swazi-born English actor will portray some kind of "a villainous mad-scientist" in Wolverine 3. The name of the character and further details on the plot are being kept under wraps.
Richard E. Grant has appeared in numerous big and small screen ventures since 1987. The 58-year-old actor is best known for portraying Withnail in Withnail and I and John Seward in Bram Stoker's Dracula. His recent appearances include Jekyll and Hyde, Doctor Who, and Queen and Country. He will also be appearing in a mysterious role in the latest season of Game of Thrones. Apart from acting, Richard has also served as a writer and director. He penned and helmed the 2005 flick Wah-Wah.
Even though we don't have any further details, Richard E. Grant's casting as a mad scientist in Wolverine 3 tends to lend support to a recent rumor. We heard that the clawed female mutant Laura Kinney, aka X-23, will appear in the James Mangold flick. It could be that Richard's character is the one responsible for Laura’s creation. He could be playing someone like Dr. Zander Rice from X-23 #1 in Wolverine 3.
However, this is just speculation, and could eventually prove to be way off the mark. It’s possible that we won't have our questions about Richard E. Grant's role answered until the movie hits the theaters.
