UFC Fighter Tyron Woodley Reveals Why He Pulled Out Of Spider-Man: Homecoming!

Tyron Woodley explains why he left Spider-Man: Homecoming!

During an interview on The MMA Hour last month, UFC fighter Tyron Woodley revealed that he was going to shoot for a Marvel movie that week in Atlanta. Since there weren't any other Marvel movies filming at that location, we could easily surmise that the movie he was referring to was Spider-Man: Homecoming.

So, did Woodley eventually become a part of the Jon Watts venture? Alas, no! During his recent interview with Jay & Dan for UFC on Fox (via Heroic Hollywood), the UFC Welterweight Champion said that he left the project. Why? He explained:

This is what I said. I said that I could be working on a Marvel movie very soon, and I didn't put two-and-two together. I was in Atlanta, the only Marvel movie at that time was Spider-Man "” I didn't put those things together. When you're working on a Marvel movie, their legal department do not play. They got word of it, and their legal department started coming down on me.

Tyron Woodley, who appeared in Straight Outta Compton and has a role in the upcoming Fast 8, also had "a previous obligation with Fox", which he thought was "a better play long-term". Since he is a man of his word, he dropped out of Spider-Man: Homecoming. So, Marvel's infamous legal team wasn't the only reason behind Woodley's departure from the project.

But what was the role he was going to play in the July 7, 2017 release? While Woodley wouldn't reveal the name of the character, he does suggest that it was one of the bad guys. According to the athlete:

I was going to play a villain in the movie, and I think I was going to be fighting Spider-Man.
