Spider-Man: Homecoming kicked off its filming last month, with a cast roster that seems to grow longer every other day. Today we have two more names to add. Both are actresses, but while one of them is in her teen years, the other is nearly 50. However, the addition of both of them, like the already added cast members, reflects the diverse demography of Queens.
The two new Spider-Man: Homecoming cast members are the Chinese-American actress Tiffany Espensen and the Haitian-American actress Garcelle Beauvais. Deadline provides the casting confirmation.
However, the outlet doesn't have any details to offer on what role either actress is playing in the Jon Watts flick.
The 17-year-old Tiffany Espensen is best known for portraying Piper Peckinpaw in the Nickelodeon series Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures and Belinda in the Disney XD series Kirby Buckets.
The actress has also appeared in television movies like Terry the Tomboy and R.L. Stine's Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls, as well as sci-fi movies like Repo Men and Earth to Echo.
Considering her age, it is safe to assume that Tiffany Espensen is playing one of Peter Parker's schoolmates in Spider-Man: Homecoming. But it is unclear whether hers is a major supporting character or a minor one.
Garcelle Beauvais, 49, has had an active acting career since 1984, during which she’s appeared in numerous small and big screen ventures.
She is most recognized for her roles as Fancy Monroe in The WB sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show and Valerie Heywood in the ABC series NYPD Blue. She was once a fashion model, too.
Garcelle Beauvais was recently spotted on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming. She shared the frame with Laura Harrier in that set photo.
Her outfit seems to suggest that she's been cast as a teacher in Peter's school. But she could also be playing the mother or aunt of Harrier's character in the July 7, 2017 release.
