Throughout Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming marketing campaign, one of Tom Holland’s favorite jokes was his inability to keep a secret. He recently remarked that he wasn't even allowed to read the entire Avengers: Infinity War script because of it. But was it all just a joke? The newest (and youngest) of all of the actors who’ve played the web-crawler might have spilled the beans about a big surprise from Marvel.
We’re talking about Marvel One-Shots, which were released between 2011's Thor and 2013's Thor: The Dark World. Marvel released five One-Shots on either DVD or Blu-ray, and although they were intended to be just for fun, one spawned a spin-off series (The Consultant's success with fans was a factor that contributed to the release of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and another retconned the entire Mandarin twist from Iron Man 3.
It all ended with the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, not because Marvel was out of ideas, but because they were out of time, as Kevin Feige revealed in 2015.
Now, back to Tom Holland! During an interview with Uproxx, the actor reiterated that he'd like to do a sequel with Paul Rudd as Ant-Man. He added that if that isn’t possible, he'd settle for a 20-minute short.
Then he revealed that Marvel is planning to release new One-Shots! Check out the exchange below!
I want to do a short. That's what I want to do. I want to do a 20-minute short with me and Paul Rudd"¦
They used to do those on the DVDs and Blu-rays.
Yeah. I think they are planning on doing it again.
Really?
I probably just spoiled a big spoiler. Kevin Feige's probably going to be furious.
We wouldn't mind having One-Shots again, especially if the first one in four years features Spider-Man and Ant-Man!
