Thor: Ragnarok – New Details on Thor, Valkyrie, Hulk, and Strange

While Thor is regarded as the weakest of the MCU solo franchises, this year's Ragnarok promises to be one of the shared universe’s most fun movies. It adapts several storylines from the comics (including Planet Hulk); features the first female super villain as a main antagonist (Cate Blanchett's Hela); and sees the return of everybody's favorite Marvel supervillain (Tom Hiddleston's Loki). So Thor: Ragnarok will be big.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie will also set the stage for Infinity War. Since it’s the final galactic adventure before the arrival of Thanos, it makes total sense.

The same website also revealed that Loki is to blame for the events that will unfold in the movie. After replacing Odin on the throne, the god of mischief somehow let Hela escape. When his brother confronted her, he was blasted to Sakaar, a gladiatorial planet ruled by the charming but nefarious Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).

There, Thor will meet Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), a hard-drinking warrior over whom Thor fan-boys quite a bit. Apparently, Valkyrie is hiding on the planet for unknown reasons. Furthermore, Entertainment Weekly also revealed that Thor will lose Mjolnir - and his hair – on Sakaar.

As far as Hulk is concerned, the website goes on to say that he’s like a god in the arena and that he feels right at home there. They don’t explain how he ended up there in the first place, but we can once again assume that it was Loki's doing. Thor and Hulk fight, and then unite their powers and head for Asgard.

Doctor Strange won't have such a big role in Thor: Ragnarok. Or, at least, we assume that he won’t, since Kevin Feige said that not much of Thor: Ragnarok is set on Earth. But who says that Doctor Strange won't visit other realms?
